"Gender Equity training is essential for teachers in order to enlighten them
on biases that may exist in their classroom. Teachers are made aware of subtle
messages that may be occurring in their classroom, such as boys interrupting
more often than girls or boys handling the equipment in labs while the girls are
taking a more passive role as note-takers.
By fostering a more supportive learning environment for girls, teachers can
increase the number of girls participating and succeeding in STEM classes. I
have personally witnessed the lack of awareness in many teachers across the
state prior to gender equity training and have discussed the results the
teachers have seen in their classrooms as they have employed gender fair
strategies.
The teachers that I work with believe that the training has been very
beneficial."

"I wanted to thank you for your work with the
Gender Equity training. I am writing to let you know that the coaches and Center
leaders have begun incorporating some of the training in their visits. Many are
making recommendations to academy leaders to be aware of gender issues and how
they might look to mitigating those issues. All of the Centers have committed to
working gender equity in their training by deliberately addressing issues that
might come up for teachers. Thank you for providing this training."

"Teachers have a way of doing things that work for them, but the gender equity training helped me take a step back and become more reflective about my
teaching.
It challenged my preconceptions and changed many of my practices. I believe that I am a better teacher for both my female students and my male students because of what I learned."

"Thank you all for this wonderful opportunity and powerful workshop for our counselors. The feedback from the counselors is very positive. They believe the time was well spent. The information presented was truly an eye opener for our counselors. I do believe they will use this experience to impact the girls and young women they come in contact with to build options to include the pursuit of engineering careers. Sincere thanks."

"I really liked the fact that before this camp, I was unsure of what college I wanted to attend and my career plans. But now I'm pretty sure of what I want
to do thanks to being able to discuss it freely with experienced people."
